NexGen Kai

He aha te mea nui o te ao? He tangata, he tangata, he tangata.

What is the most important thing in the world? It is people, it is people, it is people.

This whakatauki emphasises the central role that people play in our world and aligns perfectly with NexGen Kai's mission of community, education, and sustainability. It conveys the message that our collective actions and efforts are the driving force behind positive change in our communities and the world at large. NexGen Kai is a new charitable trust that is looking to transform our future.

Cultivating a Sustainable Future Through Aquaponics.

At NexGen Kai, we believe in the power of sustainable agriculture and education to transform communities and promote a healthier, more environmentally conscious future. Today, we're excited to share our journey and vision with you, and we invite you to join us on this incredible adventure.

A New Story Begins

NexGen Kai was born out of a vision to establish community Aquaponic Garden facilities across New Zealand. We envisioned spaces where people of all backgrounds could come together to learn about sustainable farming practices, participate in Aquaponics, and enjoy locally grown organic produce. We knew that by fostering a sense of community and providing hands-on education, we could make a lasting impact on the way people think about food production and healthy living.

Our Mission and Objectives

Our Trust Deed outlines our mission and objectives, which are at the heart of everything we do:

Community Aquaponic Gardens: We aim to maintain and operate community Aquaponic Garden facilities, serving as hubs for learning and sustainable food production.

Empowering Sustainable Practices: We provide opportunities for individuals and community groups to engage in sustainable food production, Aquaponics, environmental education, and farming activities.

Promoting Sustainability: We promote and facilitate sustainable practices in food production, emphasising the importance of sustainably produced kai (food) as an educational tool for personal development and wellbeing.

Environmental and Cultural Awareness: We strive to raise awareness of environmental and cultural issues while maintaining appropriate standards for safe and effective Aquaponics practices.

Vocational Training: We will offer vocational pathways in Aquaponics, helping individuals develop the skills needed for a sustainable future.

Resource Development: We are actively contributing to the development and dissemination of resources related to Aquaponics and sustainable farming.

Collaboration: We will work in collaboration with other agencies involved in primary industries to advance our shared goals.

Healthy Lifestyles: We educate people about the benefits of a healthy lifestyle through physically active and health-focused programs and activities.

Supporting Schools and Educational Institutions: We provide guidance and support to schools and educational institutions, assisting in the delivery of wellbeing and sustainability programs.

A Holistic Approach

At NexGen Kai, we embrace a holistic approach to education and wellbeing, considering the physical, mental, family, and spiritual dimensions of individuals. Our programs and initiatives will reflect this comprehensive perspective, helping people lead healthier, more fulfilling lives.
